TV Experiment Brings In Audience with Social Media

A new television experiment is hoping to find a happy medium between introducing social media to more hesitant tech newbies while still informing more active users on the latest online trends.

KIRO 7 Seattle Traffic Anchor, and saavy social media fashionista, Jenni Hogan will be hosting “Connect,” a show highlighting a number of topics including but not limited to exciting new apps, interviews with the faces behind the online voices of your favorite brands, and ways that technology can improve your life.

Two years ago while I was interning with Jenni I asked if being a traffic anchor was her dream job.

She told me that she didn’t think her dream job had been created for her yet. She hoped one day she would be able to combine her passion of social media with her daily love of helping people. That day has come; with over 41,000 Twitter followers and almost 100,000 Facebook subscribers coming along for the ride. Jenni is basically the nicest, most sincere person I have ever met, KIRO could not have picked a better host for their show!

On Thursday night starting at 10 pm PT on KIROTV.com an online livestream will kickstart the show before going live on-Air at 10:30pm. I am excited that since it is livestreamed Jenni’s family and friends from Australia as well as others from around the globe, including myself in Vietnam, will be able to watch!

Jenni hopes we will all join in on the fun to inspire and educate one another about the benefits of connecting online socially.

“This is a show that can’t be done without the viewers and I’m excited to have them join us,” said Hogan. “They will be as much of a host as I am, adding their comments and helping to shape the direction as we explore the best ways to connect with each other during live broadcasts, using tools such as our mobile devices and laptops.”
